Ormskirk has a glorified bus stop, Chorley a proper bus station; post from FB Southport News publicising a radical move by Chorley Borough Council:

'You may have seen some improvement works happening inside Chorley Bus Station which are all part of our plans to transform the facility following our acquisition back in November.

Visitor seating and litter bins are being refurbished and we are working on internal redecoration (painting of walls) which will be done in sections to avoid any disruption of services. Plus we’ll be painting the barriers, railings, columns on the exterior.

Additional Chorley Borough Council press release: 'We have now begun the full renovation of the public toilets to create more modern looking facilities. During the work, we’ll be leaving a WC open for use.

In the future you’ll also see the installation of some digital signage so visitors to Chorley can find out more about the attractions and events we have going on in our fabulous town.

The newsagents is expected to reopen in the coming weeks (operated by an external company), so you can grab something to read or snacks and drinks for your onward journey.

Making improvements to the bus station is an integral part of ensuring our town centre continues to be a fantastic place to live, work and visit, complementing our other town centre facilities, and we’ll be providing more information on our exciting plans for the exterior works to the bus station later this year.'
